On a cold, December morning, the Blizzard Squirt B boys arrived at the rink cheerful but apprehensive about their game against the Colonials Squirt B. Last weekend a game scheduled against this team had been cancelled due to snow, so this was our first time “versing” them, (as the boys say).

In the beginning of period one, it looked like a pretty evenly-matched game. The Colonials were skating hard, clearly confident with their first place position in the league. Our defense was looking great and working hard right out of the gate. In the fourth shift, our boys got the puck out of our defensive zone and skated it up to theirs. Andrew Lefurge sent it flying right into their zone and then…Ben Constantinides took a hard shot and…SCORE!!! Only a few minutes into the game we were winning 1-0!!!Great work boys!!!! A few minutes later, Joey Rocco got a second goal for Blizzard bringing us to a 2-0 lead by the end of period One!!!!!!

Period two saw more hard fighting by our boys. Luke Caddo, Ryan Hille, Pat Garvey and Joey Rocco held tough in defense and Garret made another six gorgeous saves. With the help of his wingers, Matt Koop and Dean Scolavino, Kevin Drevitch fired through the Colonials and impressed us all with a THIRD GOAL for Blizzard!!!! Needless to say, the Blizzard moms could be heard from afar!

Going into Third Period with a 3-0 lead, Blizzard was confident but cautious- lots of great defensive work by Patrick Garvey, hard fighting by Ryan Hille, solid strength and powerful defense by Luke Caddo and quick moves by Joey Rocco, (along with some defensive offense by Tyler Pratt, Sam Russell, Ben Constantinides, Matt Koop, Andrew Lefurge, Dean Scolavino and Kevin Drevitch), and of course, the ever powerful Garret Stenberg in goal kept the Colonials scoreless through the end of period three. Beautiful shut-out against the Colonials by the BLIZZARD SQUIRT B team!!
